Barrie Tim Hortons restaurant owners pledge $1 million to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre and $1 million to Hospice Simcoe through Smile Cookie proceeds
For Tim Hortons restaurant owners in Barrie, Ontario, Smile Cookie week is a powerful opportunity to make a big impact for the littlest community members and their families.
This year, Barrie restaurant owners are coming together with a $1 million pledge from their annual Smile Cookie campaign to help expand Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre’s Birthing Unit - and they’re rallying the community for their support to reach this goal within the next five years! The restaurant owners include Johnny and Christina Mizzoni, Geoff and Agnes House, Brandon Newlove, Sarah Hinton, Paul Stevenson, Tammy Jacklin, Dawn and Brad Melling, Alex Papageorge, Catherine and Phil Beaupre, and Susan and Jason Holman.
“We care deeply about the communities we serve and the opportunity to make an incredible impact right here at home,” said Johnny Mizzoni, on behalf of all Barrie Tim Hortons restaurant owners. “We invite everyone in the community to join us in our restaurants to support Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre through Smile Cookie week. Together, we can help to shape the future of our community.”
The much-needed funds will support critical upgrades in the unit to construct brighter, larger spaces that keep families close and care teams connected, along with specialized rooms with technology for high-risk situations, clinics for new parents and young children, and dedicated space to support new moms’ mental health.
“Tim Hortons restaurant owners have shown us what’s possible when local businesses rally behind their community,” says Mary-Anne Frith, Vice Chair of RVH Foundation’s Board and Chair of the Keep Life Wild campaign. “Their generosity will help create a space for our growing community that’s more healing, more family-focused, and ready for the future.”
In addition to giving the littlest among us the sweetest start, Hospice Simcoe will also get a big boost from this year’s annual Smile Cookie campaign in Barrie. Proceeds from Smile Cookie sales in Barrie will also help fund the construction of a new gazebo at Hospice Simcoe, helping to deliver compassionate care to those who are dying or grieving the loss of a loved one. Tim Hortons Barrie restaurant owners pledged $1 million to Hospice Simcoe and anticipate reaching this goal with the community’s support within the next 3 years.

Tim Hortons has been a long-time supporter of RVH’s Birthing Unit, raising more than $500,000 since 2019, and of Hospice Simcoe since 2015, raising more than $740,000.
Tim Hortons week-long Smile Cookie campaign returns April 28 with 100% of proceeds from each cookie sold donated to local charities and community groups selected by local Tim Hortons restaurant owners across the county.
